A converted medieval water mill in the heart of Galloway

You can put your boots on and find some great walks just outside. Lochs, hills and woodlands are all within walking distance. If you jump in the car you’ll find many more nearby.

Galloway has a wonderful variety of wild water.; rivers, lochs, sea to walk along or swim through.Even small hills offer long views.

Sailing, wind-surfing, kayaking, climbing, zip-wiring, mountain biking, wild swimming, obstacle bouncing… the spectacular Loch Ken is a great setting for one of the most idyllic adventure centres that we have seen anywhere. Plenty for children of all ages to do. Friendly staff offer coaching for those who’d like it.

Threave Castle, surrounded by waters of the River Dee near Castle Douglas. Caerlaverock Castle near Dumfries.

Scotland’s only designated Food Town is Castle Douglas, a historic market town with a buzz. The busy high-street is full of shops, cafe’s, hotels and restaurants.  There are over 50 local businesses that sell top-quality locally produced food, confectionery and beers.

Galloway is great for seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye. Galloway Forest Park is only the fourth Dark Sky Park (a place with particularly dark night skies and protected to keep it that way by controlling light pollution) in the World. It makes for breathtaking stargazing conditions.

Galloway has plenty going on. Lots to discover.
